Yomaira Writes: A Story Woven in Words

Yomaira Writes was established by Yomaira Cristina; a poet dedicated to sharing her heart through writing. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Washington Heights, New York City, Yomaira gained a uniquely rich and multifaceted perspective on the world. Growing up in such a vibrant environment exposed her to diverse cultural experiences, instilling resilience, adaptability, and a profound love for the arts.

Her passion for writing emerged at fifteen when she discovered poetry—a form of expression that gave her control over communication and a sense of grounding. Though she never pursued formal education in writing, her love for words remained constant.

In 2022, she entered a poetry contest, a pivotal moment in her journey. Though she didn’t win, the experience led her to share her writings publicly, connecting her with a community of artists who encouraged her growth and embraced her voice. Through this, she realized that poetry wasn’t just a craft she loved, it was a reflection of her identity, a way to reclaim herself.

Yomaira’s mission became a pursuit to prove that embracing one’s truth leads to purpose regardless of age, background, or upbringing. She believes that is where our power lies. She understands that authenticity itself is our brand, that we don’t need to craft an identity, because our true self is the most valuable brand we carry. We all have gifts to offer this world, no matter how small we perceive them.

She established Yomaira Writes LLC to celebrate her inner child, honor the experiences that shaped her, share her authentic voice, and spread positivity like confetti.

Yomaira doesn't seek to define herself—she simply is, ever evolving.

Yomaira’s writing is inspired by relationships, nature, music, and the rhythms of everyday life. While she enjoys experimenting with different poetic styles, she is most often drawn to free verse, micro poetry, and found poetry.

When she isn’t writing, Yomaira is likely working on a home project, exploring new crafts or recipes, hiking, traveling, or spending time with her family.

I've never fit in.

I grow like the wildflowers,

rooted in my truth.

The Poetry of Becoming

This version of me

is still blending

complexities with gracefulness—

I am bones and spirit;

an open wound healing,

a reckless meditation,

breathing and losing.

I am love, fearing itself.
